Full Job Description

To provide an efficient, responsive, and expert adaptations service, it is essential to ensure that all work is completed to a high standard within specified time targets and budget parameters. The customer's needs must be at the forefront of all tasks undertaken. This includes delivering an effective property surveying service for properties needing an adaptation for a disabled occupant, assessing the property's condition for adaptation suitability and feasibility, and identifying and diagnosing building defects, specifying remedies, and supporting continuous service improvement culture where appropriate., 1. Provide guidance to service users and colleagues on the feasibility and design of schemes.
2. Supervise and oversee both large and small-scale projects to guarantee timely completion and successful delivery.
3. Assess the state of existing buildings and pinpoint defects that could impact proposed adaptations.
4. Draft documents for Disabled Facilities Grant applications when necessary.
5. Conduct pre- and post-construction inspections to ensure that work is performed to contract standards and in accordance with the Occupational Therapist's recommendations.
6. Create project schedules, specifications, and Auto-Cad drawings to be provided to contractors.
7. Liaise with service users, their representatives, statutory authorities, and contractors to address queries related to ongoing or planned work.
8. Collaborate with and coordinate with various professional bodies to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and current legislation, such as H&S, CDM, and Party Wall Act legislation.
9. Stay current with building methods, developments, and related products.
10. Actively take part in team meetings to find new ways of working, enhance outcomes, and uphold best practice standards to help service development.
11. Adhere to health and safety guidelines as set forth by the Health and Safety at Work Act and any amendments.
12. Participate in mandatory and other relevant training to advance professional development.
13. The successful candidate must undergo a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications Have an HND/HNC or equivalent professional qualification in building surveying or a related discipline, or possess relevant experience in a comparable role. Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering disabled adaptations projects within specified timeframes and with high-quality outcomes, including effective planning, managing, and monitoring programmes of work. Thorough knowledge of the legislative and procedural frameworks governing the operation of Disabled Facilities Grants. Ability to plan and execute building works, including effective planning, management, and monitoring of programmes of work for disabled occupants. Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations, asbestos awareness, and Health & Safety legislation. Ability to interpret and utilise KPI data to assess contractor performance, as well as monitor and evaluate key performance indicators. Capacity to

  • manage conflicting priorities in a high-pressure work environment to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD software. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex schedules and plans to applicants in an accessible manner while keeping them informed of progress.
