Full Job Description

As the Lead Controls and Diagnostics Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of Suspension Control functionality and diagnostics strategy

The Successful candidate will have the opportunity to co-ordinate with wider teams across the Product Engineering group to support activities required to develop, deliver, calibrate, test and sign off active and adaptive suspension control systems and associated diagnostic strategies

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Actively supporting the controls model development, delivery and tuning activities within the Suspension Controls squad.

  • Working closely with the Technical Leads/Technical Specialists and Product Owner within an Agile framework to define priorities and delegate work packages for the Suspension Control Engineers.

  • Leading the delivery & validation of application diagnostic strategies (in house and supplier) and dedicated fault monitors together with the specification of associated requirements for Suspension Control Systems to meet program requirements, improve system performance, improve quality, and to align with changes being made to interfacing systems.

  • Ensure that Systems Engineering process deliverables are created and maintained (e.g. Requirements Decks, Architecture Diagrams, Failure Mode Analysis)

  • Create and maintain system documentation (e.g. System Information Guides, End of Line Process Specifications)

  • Support internal customers with documentation and technical assistance as required to successfully build, calibrate and test vehicles equipped with suspension control applications

    Experience of model-based control function development with MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Prior experience of leading model-based software delivery for safety critical systems in accordance with a quality management process and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO26262, ASPICE)

  • A strong understanding of chassis actuation and control systems, and their influence on vehicle attribute behaviour.

  • Knowledge of vehicle networks, ECUs, fault monitoring strategies, diagnostic routines and electronics.

  • Experience with following software applications; Vector CANape & Canalyzer, MatLab & Simulink.
