Full Job Description

The palliative care unit at North Tyneside General Hospital is currently looking for a part time health care assistant to join our lovely team.

The unit has 19 beds and we support patients with a range of palliative conditions who need symptom control and we also care for patients at end of life.

Due to the nature of the unit it can be an emotional place to work. A strong interest in palliative care is essential and please ensure you give a good description within the supporting information section as part of your application process., The role of the healthcare assistant is to support the qualified staff and other members of the MDT to provide high standards of individualised patient centred care.

The successful candidate will have effective communication skills, work well as part of a team as well as independently, have initiative, reliability, trustworthy, friendly, supportive and approachable.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
