Full Job Description

Southampton City Council's Parking Services Team are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable team worker to carry out maintenance and repair of the Council's parking and toll plaza infrastructure.

This is a important role in ensuring that the Parking and Toll Bridge services remain operational at all times. Team members will frequently need to show initiative in identifying and resolving complex and varied faults such as may occur with all equipment and do so in a timely manner.

The role includes a wide variety of duties, including servicing and repairing faults with parking and toll plaza equipment, resolving signing and lining defects, carrying out car park audits, responding to customer queries, raising orders for new equipment and servicing requirements and working with contractors to deliver new parking restrictions. A flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines.

Parking Equipment Technicians will work outside in all weathers and alongside the general public, with excellent customer service skills required.

You will need a full clean driving licence in order to drive our vehicles and will also be required to undergo a DBS check as part of the pre-employment checks. The role requires the use of your own vehicle and post holders qualify as Contractual Car Users.

Parking Equipment Technicians work a rota to ensure cover is maintained at weekends and on Bank Holidays. The role includes lone working during weekends and Bank Holidays., You will work a 37-hour week and your basic leave entitlement is 26 days annual leave per year (not including bank holidays), with an additional 12 days TOIL [Time Off in Lieu] giving a total balance of 38 days leave. The basic leave level of 26 days leave increases to 29 days after you have completed 5 years of continuous service.   • This post requires a DBS check.
