Decarbonising our electricity system by 2035 will require significant investment in new electricity transmission infrastructure. This will connect the high volumes of renewable energy generated offshore with the onshore infrastructure that will transport that electricity to where it is needed.
We are recruiting an HEO who will develop and implement policy to help the UK meet these targets. The successful candidate will join our friendly, collaborative directorate and will be working at the heart of UK decarbonisation policy.
The role is in the Energy Security and Networks (ESN) Directorate in DESNZ's Energy and Infrastructure Group. You will be working in the Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) team, which manages offshore windfarm transmission systems. The team is looking to reform the OFTO regime to ensure it remains fit for purpose in the future. You will be working on a mix of long-term strategic changes to the OFTO regime and fast paced case work, which help the offshore wind industry., Your key responsibilities will include:
• Drafting a range of clear and concise documents for various audiences, examples include: policy options, responses to consultations, meeting notes.
• Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to assess the impacts of different policy options.
• Efficient management of case work.
• Communicate and update senior colleagues on policy proposals and documents.
• Attend and potentially lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders related to the policy area.
• Use evidence to help guide decisions that develop and deliver policy., We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

Office attendance
The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK.
