Turning Point's integrated drug & alcohol services are currently expanding during a really exciting time in the sector with the start of a new contract and investment and we are looking for a talented Senior Specialist Nurse to work within our community-based substance use service in Suffolk.

As a Senior Specialist Nurse you will assist in delivering Turning Point's Substance use strategy within a multi-disciplinary service which reflects our person centred values and the high levels of ambition we have both for the recovery of the individuals for whom we provide support and the development of our own staff.

As a Senior Nurse we offer a starting salary of £39,375 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £45,938 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure the delivery and development of high quality, safe and effective clinical practice, pathways and multi-disciplinary team in line with the national drug strategy aims and wider health improvement agenda;

  • Work within and lead a team to plan and deliver person centred clinical interventions;

  • As a Recovery Nurse you will deliver wellbeing clinics in the community delivering Blood Bourne Virus testing and vaccination, supporting the management of community detoxifications and other harm reduction and well-being interventions;

  • Provide line management to direct reports

  • Attend meetings, including clinical team meetings, complex case, client review and supervisions;

  • Respond to clinical delivery concerns and complaints in line with the customer feedback policy.

  • Provide effective incident management, case review and completion of follow up processes;

  • Help to create a collaborative approach that links Turning Point ever closer to outside professionals and agencies, including mental health, physical health and social care services;

  • As an employee you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, indemnity insurance and support from the Clinical Operations Manager, Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist) and Turning Point's National Chief Pharmacist.

    Essential:

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, you will need to be confident managing alcohol detoxifications.

  • Demonstratable experience of clinical leadership skills and flexible and adaptable leadership style;

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written). Ability to adapt to respond to staff, commissioners/partners and people we support;

  • Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills;

  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in high pressure environments;


  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience of working within the substance use sector;

  • an ability to demonstrate providing effective health interventions with hard to reach cohorts would be advantageous.
