Full Job Description

Reporting to the Strategic Buyer Manager, the Strategic Buyer is responsible for strategic purchasing activities within their commodity.

Specifically Includes:

  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and develop strategies to realize savings

  • Negotiate price reductions with suppliers.

  • Lead or support the implementation of cost reduction initiatives

  • Working with the potential suppliers and the program team, identify opportunities to reduce weight and cost, and address quality issues

  • Support contract negotiations with supplier

  • Ensure suppliers' compliance to contractual commitments

  • Ensure the suppliers are 'rate ready' to support production

  • Support and work closely with the Tactical Procurement team to ensure supplier performance is in line with required and contracted terms

  • Support the application of contractual remedies against material breaches (claims)

  • Identify supply chain risks and develop strategy to minimize impact

  • Develop new sources of supply and establish strategic alliances which meet the program objectives

  • Together with the commodity manager, develop the commodity by managing projects that would include the preparation of business cases and commodity profiles

  • Establish and maintain networks internally and externally

  • Monitoring and reporting supplier performance to compliment objectives on delivery and inventory

  • Support our corporate sourcing team with appropriate sourcing strategies on the A350 that are in line with the corporate commodity strategy

  • Ensure conformance to departmental procedures in all activities

  • Any other reasonable duties as required

    Materials Management background MRP, ERP etc

  • Experience in a Materials Management or similar role.

  • Previous experience within a global purchasing environment

  • Previous experience of business analytics development, including report writing and statistical analysis within purchasing

  • Proven track record of achievement in a relevant position

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
