The Art and Design Technology Department
At Whitworth Park Academy, our faculty of Art and Design Technology is led by a team of
dedicated and experienced teachers, committed to nurturing the creativity of our
children. Through collaborative efforts, we support each other by exchanging creative
ideas and expertise.
In our art curriculum, Ks3 children embark on a journey that is underpinned with the formal elements. They work through engaging themes, developing skills and knowledge of artists and designers in both historical and contemporary contexts, expressing their individual talents through 2d and 3d outcomes. Children experience art, craft and design, textiles and photography.
In design technology, Ks3 children rotate across specialisms including food, graphics,
product design and electronics. They design and make products that meet the needs of
identified users, responding to creative briefs that develop technical knowledge and
understanding of tools, materials and processes.
At Ks4, we offer AQA art, craft and design, 3d design, photography and from September
2024, textiles. These courses are extremely popular and successful.
Our faculty is well resourced with subject specialist classrooms/workshops, two computer suites and break out area for high quality displays.
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate and outstanding teacher to support our successful
team in a maternity cover position. Our faculty prides itself on its vibrant atmosphere and commitment to excellence.
