Full Job Description

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Specialist BMS / Team Leader-Manager to join our remarkable and dynamic Histology team. This is a great step up for a Specialist BMS into management. The post holder will be required to oversee and manage a team of Biomedical Scientists, as well as Junior and Support staff. The post holder will also be the lead Team manager for overseeing the implementation of future projects in addition to the day to day management of Digital Histology. This role will be working with and supported by the senior Histology Management Team., The main responsibilities of the role are outlined below:

To provide a highly specialist level of theoretical and practical Histopathology knowledge

To work as part of a core management team for Histology with other Team Managers and provide technical leadership.

To carry out tissue dissection to IBMS/RCPath standards in specimen categories within competence and as agreed with consultant staff.

To work as part of a core management team for Histology to ensure regular audits are performed and acted upon appropriately.

With Support and guidance, implement Digital Pathology in an efficient and timely manner at both Southend and Basildon Histology Sites.

Guide and train the staff on their roles within this project and once implemented continue to oversee Digital Pathology.

Lead on future Histology Projects working with all grades of Histology staff, when time and opportunities arise.
