Full Job Description

Providing temperature, pressure, flow and process control assessments to optimise performance and operational compliance of the reactor, core, boilers/steam generators and whole plant systems and individual components.
- Supporting safety cases and technical programmes where oversight of thermal-hydraulic steady-states and fault transients are key aspects.
- Problem solving with the aid of simulation tools, control system design packages & mathematical plant models.

The work in the main provides plant operational support, and thus requires a high degree of cross-functional working and close collaboration with other departments and the power stations.
Who you are…

We are currently recruiting for a Thermal Hydraulics Engineer / Analysist, to become part of the Thermal Hydraulics Group in Nuclear Services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a background in plant dynamics & control system design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, steam or thermodynamics who is keen to apply their experience in a nuclear energy context., A degree (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant STEM (Engineer / Physicist / Mathematician) discipline, with a mix of technical and practical skills.
- Ability to translate engineering issues into theoretical assessments and practical solutions.
- The problem-solving nature of the work requires a high degree of lateral thinking capability.
- Self-motivated, dependable, to steer work/projects to timely completion.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly, confidently, and concisely.

You may also have the following:

- Knowledge of Automatic Control Theory.
- Experience with the UNIX/LINUX operating system environment.
